September 13th, 2016

We recently sat down with B Flame to learn more about his movement and his music.

Us: How did you come up with your artist name?
B Flame: I came to a studio to watch somebody record just wondering how everything worked, but when this group named L$L was scheduled for a session that day and only Skoop, 1/3 of the group showed up. I was just listening to the track he was making, and i thought it was raw so i showed him a verse from my notebook, and they told me i could spit and that i could get on the track if i wanted. So that’s what i did, and we recorded the song on the spot that night. When we was wrapping it up, he asked me what my rap name was, and since i had never been in a real studio before I didn’t have one. The Skoop was like “What about B Flame, you be spitting fire haha.” And that was that.

Us: What inspired you to start making music?
B Flame: I’ve been writing poetry since the sixth grade and i got published for one of my poems in a book that year so I knew I could write, but I bought Tha Carter II hard copy with the second chopped and screwed disc by Wayne, and then got my hands on a ipod shuffle with the Marshall Mathers LP. That showed me that rap could make you feel emotion, beyond just liking the song, but ANY emotion you were feeling you could put into music. My summer going into 8th grade I got with my friends and started using a laptop with the lil’ mic by the camera to record over Johnny Julianno beats in the garage, on free trials of mixcraft. Them summer nights just having fun staying up recording and kicking it, made me want to keep rapping.

Us: Who is/are your biggest influence(s) and why?
B Flame: My biggest influences are probably Big Sean, J. Cole, Nas, The Game, Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Pac, Biggie, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Kanye.

Us: What do you want your fans to feel when they hear your music?
B Flame: I can’t say a specific emotion, becuase I have lots of different vibes in my music, and some songs are meant to be able to kick it and smoke too, some about my deceased friends, some about life in my city, and some even more personal. I just want my fans to FEEL me, you know. Hopefully i can make them feel what i felt making the song or what inspired me to make it.

Us: What can we expect from you? What are you working on? What do you have coming out?
B Flame: So you can expect to see my first music video coming soon, Shot to “BackPack” featuring IG Sin and shot by TY Kush.
