We recently sat down with King Thomas to learn more about him and his recent mixtape “Prime Time Vol. 1“.

Us: How did you come up with your artist name?

King Thomas: I came up with my artist name by thinking about my favorite animal which is a lion and as we all know the lion is classified as the King of the jungle, and I feel like I’m a king. Thomas is simply my last name and when you put it together you have Me, King Thomas

Us: What inspired you to start making music?

King Thomas: When I went to college in summer 2012, I met up with one of my close friends who I also call my brother, Slim. He used to always freestyle everyday and everywhere he went. One day he told me to freestyle with him while we was in the room smoking listening to instrumentals. From that day on I was inspired to start making music everyday of my life. His movement that he started is Called ” Swafh Gang ” (SGF). So we thought to ourselves that we should start pushing ourselves as artists and that’s what we did. That’s why I rep SGF to the fullest. You can hear it in my music all the time and its also in all of my social media names. S/0 to Slim and SGF (Swafh Gang Family)

Us: Who is/are your biggest influence(s) and why?

King Thomas: My top 3 biggest influences are Kevin Gates, Meek Mill, and Future. Kevin Gates influences me in a way for the fact that he’s not afraid or shame to tell you how he really feels in the inside or touch on certain subjects musically and as a person in general. Meek Mill influences me because I like the way he raps about the struggles and him coming from nothing and how he made it to the top by relentless ambition and dedication. He’s a dreamchaser and I see that in myself as well. Future influences me by the way he makes catchy hooks, and that’s what fans remembers most about songs these days.

Us: What do you want your fans to feel when they hear your music?

King Thomas: When people sit down and play a track from King Thomas or a track that King Thomas is featured on, I want them to feel how I feel at the moment. If I’m rapping about me dealing with cheating, anger, happiness, sorrow etc etc, I want my fans to feel all those emotions as if they were in my position. I want them to get a visual image of my wordplay on every hook and every verse.

Us: What can we expect from you? What are you working on? What do you have coming out?

King Thomas: You can expect more great industry quality music in the near future. I’ve dropped “Prime Time Vol.1″ this past April, I have a lot of mixtapes done and ready to go as we speak but I believe in releasing my music periodically, but I will say this… You can get your ears ready to hear my first collabortation mixtape ever.. with my dawg, my friend, my brother Dimez called “King Of Dimez” which we are planning to release late July/ early August. I’ll release “King 5″ on my 23rd birthday ( December 28th ) and you’ll just have to stay tuned to everything else that I’ll have going on big brother.

Us: Wow! It sounds like you’re sitting on a lot of music. We look forward to showcasing all your music this year.

Be sure to show your support by streaming, downloading, and Powering Up his new mixtape “Prime Time Vol. 1“.
